Vacuum Conveying is the process of moving bulk dry materials, such as powders, from place to place within a factory using suction. The material is transferred in a network of tubing from the pick up point or source to the customers process. Most Vacuum Conveying System transfer product based on a timed interval to the vacuum receiver. At the end of the timed sequence the discharge valve can open and the material conveyed can discharge in to the process.
There are two mature technical types for vacuum conveying: dilute phase conveying and dense phase conveying, which can be matched according to different material characteristics.
Dilute Phase Conveying
Materials are fully mixed with air and flow at a high speed in pipelines. Air and materials are in nearly equal proportions. This mode is low-cost and widely compatible, suitable for ordinary non-friable fine powder such as flour, sugar, talcum powder and plastic powder.
Dense Phase Conveying
Materials move in continuous material slugs at low speed inside pipes, with much less air mixed in. The slow conveying speed greatly reduces friction and collision between materials and pipeline walls, effectively preventing friable, fragile raw materials from crushing and deterioration, ideal for blended powder, pigment and fragile chemical particles.
